Shooniyaa Wa-Biitong and Ne-Chee Friendship Centre have partnered to open “Ozhibii’igewigamig”, an employment and training centre servicing the Anishinaabe people of the Kenora Area. This downtown location allows easy accessibility to all individuals in Kenora where employment services will be available to everyone who enters the door.
The Ozhibii’igewigamig resource centre is unique in the sense that it will focus on services that will be culturally appropriate for clients to meet their employment goals. The Centre will also work with employers in creating a diverse workforce reflective of the Kenora area and to increase the opportunities of Aboriginal people with the mainstream economic structure of the Kenora area.
Three employment counsellors are available from both organizations to assist individuals with job search, resume and cover letter assistance, career exploration and counselling, training action plan development, self-marketing tips and other employment related services.
