Communique – COVID-19 Release

Booshoo. Shooniyaa Wa-Biitong prides itself in working towards building a strong Treaty #3 workforce working in collaboration with First Nations and providing pre-employment, access to employment opportunities and training interventions to Treaty #3 clients. We are committed to a client-focused approach.

Due to daily evolving conditions re COVID-19 and in consideration of our staff, clients and the general public, all our offices are closed until April 14, 2020. Currently, we are implementing our Business Continuity Plan as a result of COVID-19 in accordance with our Work from Home Policy. Shooniyaa Wa- Biitong remains committed to providing as many services as reasonably possible in a safe and responsible manner.

Staff will continue to support our clients by working remotely:

  • Program Staff such as Program Officers and Employment Advisors will remain available via technology by e-mail for current clients and new clients seeking employment and/or training assistance including the processing fast-track Participant Employment Supports.

Management Staff will remain available for First Nations leadership including finance to:

  • address current projects, files and payments
  • intake/process new applications (please note assessment and approval may delayed due to current situation and type of application received)

We are currently exploring on-line, on-demand webinars appropriate for our clients. In addition, we are stepping up our efforts to promote mental health wellness for our Youth through our social media sources.

All training events have been postponed. All travel has been cancelled.

We are closely following local, provincial and national developments. We are participating in local coordination and communication linkages.
