Objective:  To increase the awareness of Youth in making decisions and choices about their education, careers and employment aspirations.

The primary aim of “Niigaan Inaabin 2012 – A Career Conference on Essential Skills” is to introduce the topic of Essential Skills, what they mean, and how they are important for future jobs, education and careers, and how they can be developed.

Workshops will be focused on the above and have been separated into categories.  Some topics will be covered in more than one workshop.

The Office of Literacy and Essential Skills has (9) Essential Skills as follows:  Reading;  Working with Others;  Document Use;  Thinking;  Numeracy;  Computer Use;  Writing;  Continuous Learning;  and Oral Communication.

The Career Conference is open to students from the Treaty #3 area attending high schools, alternative programs, and to unemployed youth.
